I delivered the keynote at the Human Interaction Design Conference 2025 during Birmingham Tech Week.

My session, “The Future of Human Interaction Design in Emerging Technologies (AI & Immersive Tech)”, explored how the emergence of these technologies impacts UX processes, ethical concerns, and design innovation.

In the keynote, I shared how UX Design serves as the bridge that ensures emerging tech remains deeply human-centred.

A few key takeaways I emphasised:

With every breakthrough comes new challenges: privacy, bias, physical and emotional fatigue, loss of agency, and ethical grey zones.

Design is shifting from control to collaboration; we need to design for co-agency between the users and the technologies.

Transparency, trust, and inclusion are the new foundations of interaction.

Academic research will be critical for innovation.

It is important to learn systems as designers to help us better understand the technologies and design for function and delight.

Technology shapes behaviour. Design shapes the meaning of these technologies.
